Founder, Owner, GIA Graduate Gemologist, Jewelry Designer, Goldsmith
For nearly 40 years, Ken has been working in various positions within the jewelry industry. He began by taking jewelry design and jewelry-making courses while in high school and college in Southern California. Later, he worked as a jewelry apprentice for master goldsmiths and diamond setters in California and New Mexico. Ken has had extensive training and experience in jewelry design, jewelry manufacturing, and in diamonds and colored stones.
While living in New Mexico from 1979 - 1984, Ken worked for a couple of jewelry companies. He worked as a goldsmith, jewelry designer, and gemologist for an independent jewelry store and also created jewelry for a national jewelry manufacturing company.
In 1984, Ken graduated from the world renowned Gemological Institute of America in California as a jewelry designer and Graduate Gemologist. Shortly after becoming a GIA Graduate Gemologist, Ken was hired by a high-end designer and custom jewelry store at the luxury shopping center, Fashion Island, in Newport Beach, California. During his ten years with this jewelry store, Ken designed custom one-of-kind pieces of jewelry and utilized his gemology training while brokering high-quality diamonds and rare gemstones. While in California, Ken became well acquainted with many of the nation’s most acclaimed jewelry designers. He made valuable connections with major international diamond and precious gemstone dealers. His training, experiences, and connections within the industry of high-end jewelry were invaluable to achieving his ultimate goal of starting his own jewelry business.
Finally in 1994, after several years of planning, Ken and his wife Patsy moved to Bozeman, Montana where they founded their own business, Jewelry Studio. They created a unique gallery of fine jewelry designers which includes Ken’s own distinctive jewelry designs.
