NIESSING
understands design as the process by which products to be industrially
manufactured are adapted to satisfy the physical and psychological
needs of people who wear jewelry.
The design process comes to an end when a solution is found which
satisfies the needs of human beings.
Physical Needs
From our point of view, physical needs can be explained more or
less as follows: the person who wears jewelry expects it to combine
impeccable function, absolutely perfect fit, highest quality materials,
and exceptional craftsmanship.
Psychological Needs
For many people, these needs involve material aspects like security,
prestige or financial investment. Sorry - we've taken the liberty
and chosen not to put those aspects in the foreground of our process
of design evolution.
Instead,
we use excellent design to craft jewelry which is appropriate to
the spirit of our times. That's why NIESSING's jewelry is especially
communicative - for those who wear it as well as for those who behold
it. The wearers participate in a sensual and emotional experience:
the design challenges the wearers to consciously wield both their
own power - as well as the power and the aura radiated by their
jewelry.
What is This Jewelry Aiming Toward?
Rather than being prestige-oriented or intended merely as a passive
display of valuable possessions, this jewelry is communication-oriented.
That means that the women and men who wear it use their jewelry
in everyday life. Their jewelry is a way of signaling that they
live in the here-and-now, that they consciously shape their own
lives, and that they feel a sense of commitment to modern, contemporary
design. Their own personal confrontation with the ideas and forms
of the jewelry are more important to them than the mere desire to
possess it.
